Photography Workshop in Nice—French Riviera
March 9 - 15, 2012

For the first time, we're taking our photography workshop south to the Riviera - la Côte d'Azur. There's a reason - many reasons - that artists have made their way to the south of France for generations. It's a marvelous varied landscape, with hills tumbling down to the sea, beaches and cityscapes, ancient perched
villages and colorful markets. And it's all bathed in the famous light of Provence.

Neal Parent, well-known Maine photographer,
will welcome beginners as well as more experienced photographers as we explore the region. Photographers may work in digital or
black and white - or both.

Our base for this program is the city of Nice, a lively and multi-faceted
town with a long history. Nice boasts a busy port area, a fabulous
architecture including amazing baroque buildings, an Old Town
with an Italian flavor (Nice once belonged to Genoa), a huge flower
and produce market right in the center of town.

From Nice we will also explore the surrounding towns and villages, with an eye to local events and activities as well as landscape. Specific locations will be based on interests of participants.

Here are some of the possibilities:

Eze Village, the eagle's eyrie village with spectacular views over the coast from its tip-top exotic garden.

St. Paul, long time haunt of artists and full of charm.

Menton, on the border with Italy, known for its gardens and Italian style town center.

Antibes, with its fortress and beach, and Juan les Pins, with
its village atmosphere and lively crowd.

Cannes, the glamour girl of the Riviera, with its beautiful
setting.

And of course, markets, cafés, street scenes, and sidewalk artists. We include dinner or lunch daily at charming bistros and local restaurants where the food is also worth a picture or two.
